      The Derek Watkins Memorial Concert

In 2012, Derek Watkins asked myself and Pete Beachill to form a big band to play at his fifty years in the music business celebrations. Derek was suffering from a rare form of cancer, sarcoma. A charity trust was set up to generate money for sarcoma uk, and Dereks trust was named the super C charity. A super C is an extreemly high note on the trumpet, something that Derek specialized in. So it seemed only fitting to name the band The Super C Big Band.

A year after his death, we put on a concert at the Fairfield halls to celebrate his life. This was highly succssesful and was recorded for DVD and CD. All the proceeds are for Dereks charity, Sarcoma UK.
